Co-Payments and What You Will Pay
How much the plan pays depends on your adjusted family net income. Sun Life tells you your percentage in your welcome package, and we apply it to every service.
Under $70,000100% coveredNo co-payment on the CDCP fee for covered services.
$70,000 to $79,99960% coveredYou pay a 40% co-payment of the CDCP fee.
$80,000 to $89,99940% coveredYou pay a 60% co-payment of the CDCP fee.
The CDCP pays according to its own fee schedule, which is not the same as the British Columbia fee guide that we normally charge. If a service costs more than the plan's fee for it, there may be an additional amount to pay. We always tell you the exact figure in writing before treatment, and you decide how to proceed.
What the plan does not cover
Cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening, veneers and most orthodontics are not covered by the CDCP. If you are interested in those services we will quote them separately, and payment plans are available.
If you have other coverage
The CDCP is for people who do not have access to private dental insurance, so it cannot be combined with an employer or private plan. It can work alongside provincial programs such as BC's Healthy Kids program, and our team will coordinate the billing for you.
