Fillings, Inlays & Onlays in Surrey

With 3D status scans, we catch cavities while they’re small and show you on screen. We recommend the smallest repair that protects your tooth, and larger repairs are 3D-printed in one solid piece right here, often in one visit.

Do you need a filling?

These are the most common signs. A chipped front tooth? Bonding may be a better fit

  • Sensitivity to sweets, hot or coldCan be an early sign that a cavity is starting.
  • A small hole, dark spot or rough edgeUsually a cavity you can see or feel.
  • Food catching between two teethCan mean a cavity or a gap has formed between them.
  • A chipped tooth or cracked old fillingLeaves the tooth open to decay, so it’s best checked soon.

Often, there are no signs at all.

Most cavities are found at a routine checkup, when they’re smallest and easiest to fix.

How checkups find cavities early
A treatment room with a TV above the chair

Our 3D status scans catch cavities while they’re small.

Once decay breaks through the enamel, it can’t heal on its own, and it rarely hurts until it’s deep. Found early, most cavities need only a quick, comfortable filling. Left to grow, the same cavity can reach the nerve and need a root canal and a crown.

We compare your status scans over time, so small changes are spotted early and shown to you on screen.

How a filling saves your tooth.

1

You have a cavity

Decay breaks through the hard outer layer and spreads inside, often without pain at first.

2

We remove the decay

With your tooth frozen, we clean out only the decay and keep as much healthy tooth as we can.

3

We fill it to match

A tooth-coloured filling seals the tooth, shaped to your bite and matched to your shade.

The right repair for the size of the cavity.

We’ll always recommend the smallest repair that will protect your tooth, and show you why. Choose a size to see what it looks like.

An onlay

Like an inlay, but it also covers one or more cusps, rebuilding the tooth in one solid piece while keeping more of your own tooth than a crown.

Made here

A crown

Covers and protects the whole tooth. Often made the same day, while you wait.

Same-day

Printed here, so larger repairs often take one visit.

We have the technology to find a cavity early, design your repair precisely and make it right here.

Find it early

Digital X-rays, an intraoral camera and a 3D scan show the cavity clearly, and we show you on a large screen in front of you, so you see exactly what we see.

For a larger repair, we design your inlay or onlay on screen, shaped to your bite and matched to your tooth. No putty.

What’s the difference between an inlay and an onlay?
Both repair larger cavities in one solid piece. An inlay fits within the raised points (cusps) of a back tooth; an onlay also covers one or more cusps.
What does a 3D-printed filling mean for me?
For a larger repair, we design your inlay or onlay on screen and 3D-print it in our own clinic while you relax. It’s made as one solid piece, with no putty, and often fitted in a single visit.
How long do fillings, inlays and onlays last?
Composite fillings are durable and long-lasting for both small and large cavities. We’ll check your fillings at every checkup, so any change is spotted early.
Does getting a filling hurt?
We freeze the tooth first, so most people feel little more than some pressure. A little sensitivity afterwards is normal and should settle on its own.
Can you replace my old silver fillings?
Yes. We help patients replace old amalgam fillings with modern, mercury-free composite fillings, following strict protocols during removal.
How long does a filling or onlay take?
A small filling is usually done in a single short visit. Larger inlays and onlays are designed on screen and 3D-printed here while you relax, so most are finished the same day.
Why didn’t I feel the cavity?
Cavities rarely hurt until they’re deep. That’s why most are found at a routine checkup, when they’re smallest and easiest to fix.
Can an early cavity heal without a filling?
Sometimes. Before decay breaks through the enamel, a soft spot can often be strengthened with fluoride and good brushing, so we may watch it with your status scans rather than fill it. Once decay has broken through the enamel it can’t heal on its own, and a small filling now avoids a bigger repair later.
